About Too Many Markers
Too Many Markers was created by Sonia, the colourist and colouring-book creator behind @craftetcoffee.
I built it after repeatedly facing the same problem: owning plenty of markers and still not knowing which colours to pick.
Generic palette generators can suggest beautiful digital colours, but they do not tell you which physical markers to reach for. Too Many Markers connects colour theory and perceptual colour measurement with real Ohuhu marker codes from the sets I use.
The aim is not to make every creative decision for you. It is to remove the frustrating first step so you can start colouring.
From @craftetcoffee
Craft & Coffee is where I share my colouring pages, marker combinations, colouring experiments and cosy creative moments.
The palettes generated here are built from the same physical marker collection I use in my own colouring content.
Hand-swatched, scanned and measured
I coloured every swatch manually using my own markers, scanned the completed cards and selected a representative digital colour for each marker.
The tool combines those measurements with Ohuhu’s colour-code structure, colour theory and perceptual colour comparisons to recommend blends and colouring-page palettes.
Digital colour can never perfectly reproduce physical alcohol ink. Paper, screens, layering and application technique can all affect the final result.
The markers behind the tool
The current picker uses 161 unique marker colours from the combined contents of three Ohuhu Brush & Chisel sets: 120 Colours, 48 Pastel Colours Blossoming and 24 Skin-tone Colours.
Some marker codes appear in more than one set, so the combined physical collection contains 161 unique colours rather than 192.
An independent colouring tool
Too Many Markers is an independent project created for the colouring community. It is not affiliated with, sponsored by or endorsed by Ohuhu, Amazon or Instagram.
